RICHMOND REGION TOURISM FOUNDATION SPORTS GRANTS

Working to expand sports tourism in the Richmond region

Sports tourism is huge in our region. In fact, in Fiscal Year 2023 alone, sports tourism events booked through Richmond Region Tourism had an estimated economic impact of $89 million across the region. Recognizing the importance of sports, the Richmond Region Tourism Foundation has created a grant program designed to help local sports organizations expand or develop tournaments or events.

The Sports Grant program aims to increase the number of visitors from outside the Richmond region, whether they’re in the form of teams, participants, spectators or accompanying family members.

Recipients of the grants can use the funding on marketing their event or enhancing the visitor experience.

Local sports organizations are encouraged to apply for the grants – and to take all the steps they can to make this a winning destination for sports.
